A World of Certificates

Living with four girls the past couple of months is an experience I cannot write about in one day. I have decided to take it bit by bit. So , the past couple of months showed me that we are in a world where so much emphasis is placed on getting certificates from schools and no room is left for COMMON SENSE. The very common sense that saw our parents through. So much emphasis is placed on how many degrees you can get, how many books you have read yet when it comes down to everyday realities of life , its amazing how much  people cannot apply the supposed knowledge acquired from books only. This is an era where we groom kids for books and certificates only.  You ask questions and you get really naive answers. No experiences to apply to situations, no knowledge of anywhere else except schools,  church and home. We place so much emphasis on just acquiring certificates and kids who were not born with common sense find it so hard dealing with things not related to books. Trust me I am not against education,  far from it, I jst believe we would do better if emphasis is not placed just on acquiring certificates but  also on experiences and training our kids to realise that where the certificates won't take you, COMMON SENSE will.
